Sierra Oaks Fun Run & Color Run

The Fun Run is a school-wide fundraising event. Kids run/walk/dance laps around a course for approximately 30-45 minutes depending on grade. Families and friends donate to the runner – either a flat donation or on a per minute basis. Donations can be made via a website or to the PTA via check.

The Fun Run is for TK-5th graders; the middle schoolers participate in a color run, which includes running through colored powder that is food-grade, non-toxic and non-staining. While it sounds messy, the kids have a blast. Be ready to see some colorful middle schoolers at pick up on October 2!

Friday, October 2. TK, AM Kinder, 1st, 2nd and 3rd from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; PM Kinder, 4th and 5th will run from 11:15-12:15 p.m.; and middle school (6-8th) will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m. We will need parent volunteers to help us Sept. 21 – October 30 (class prizes will be awarded after the run is over).

Please send your child to school on Friday, October 2nd in athletic shoes and socks and comfortable running clothes. All students will receive a FREE Fun Run/Color Run T-shirt to wear for the event. Please also consider sending a labeled water bottle with your child.

This is the second year in a row that the Sierra Oaks PTA and parent volunteers are handling ALL of the Fun Run logistics in-house. We are shifting to class parties instead of individual prizes. The Fun Run team will be at drop-off and the school from September 21st through October 2nd promoting this fun event; join us where you can! We will need parent volunteers to set up the course, award prizes, get the kids excited, and handle communications. While we are still using a vendor to build the website and take donations, taking the Fun Run in-house means Sierra Oaks keeps most of the proceeds earned, rather than paying outside vendors. If you want to avoid vendor fees altogether, donations can be made directly to the PTA via check or cash.

The Sierra Oaks Fun Run is one of only two fundraisers during the 2026-27 school year. The PTA is dedicated to providing access to enriching opportunities and creating equitable experiences for all students. The PTA helps support field trips, the Crocker Art Ark, campus improvement projects – including a gaga ball pit and cougar mural on the MP room – and supports direct classroom learning through teacher stipends.
