Come out with the whole family and bring your friends. Admission is free\, purchase tickets for all the fun activities and treats. Sign up to volunteer and help us make the Harvest Fest a success! \nNo cost for admission\nTickets for activities on sale October 9th\, 2023 \nEarly Bird Special: 5 ticket sheets for $20\nRegular Price: 4 ticket sheets for $25 at the door \n\n\n  \nVolunteers Needed! \nMany of you have asked where you can sign up to volunteer for the Harvest Festival\, the sign-up genius is now live\, and you can sign up immediately. This is a heavy lift\, and it is simply impossible without the kindness and generosity of our community \nPlease find your grade and sign up for a shift at your grade’s booth. Thank you in advance for your dedication and selflessness. \n\nVolunteer\n \nMore Ways You Can Help\nPumpkin Decorating Contest \nEach classroom presents a decorated pumpkin that will be voted on. The winning class receives a prize! Talk to your teacher or room parent for information on how to enter! Decorated pumpkins are due Friday\, October 13th by 2:45 PM in the MP room. \nDonations Needed\nStuffed Animals \nPlease donate any gently used stuffed animals for prizes for the festival games. All donations can be dropped off at the office until Friday\, October 13th. \nCake Walk \nPlease donate as many packaged\, store-bought (not homemade) baked goods to the MP room on Friday\, October 13th. For all children’s saftey\, it is important to ensure treats are nut-free. Though the name is “cake walk”\, think quantity over cost: mini cupcakes\, cookies\, muffins\, mini cakes\, etc. Please nothing that needs to be refrigerated (cheesecake\, ice cream cakes\, popsicles\, etc). \nPop-up Tents and Tables \nWe are looking to borrow these items for the day. Please drop off these items on the stage in the MP room between now and Friday\, October 13th.Make sure all loaned items are clearly marked with your name and contact info – masking or painters tape work great! All borrowed items will be returned the next school day following the Harvest Fest. \n\nVolunteer

DESCRIPTION:Sierra Oaks K-8 PTA is thrilled to host our 23rd Annual Auction and Dinner on Saturday\, March 9\, 2024. Those attending our Hawaiian Luau themed event will be treated to a signature cocktail\, delicious dinner\, live and silent auction\, and lots of entertainment. \nThe success of this event rests entirely on the generous donations and sponsorships received from our amazing community. SUMMARY:Author Day with Lisa & Matt McMann
DESCRIPTION:The Sierra Oaks K-8 Library and Sierra Oaks PTA are excited to announce Author Day 2024 with best-selling\, award-winning writer Lisa McMann and mystery writer Matt McMann. The McMann’s will lead two assemblies for all 2nd–6th grade students and a writer’s workshop (4th–6th graders) and book signings on Friday\, March 22. \nLisa McMann is the author of over two dozen books. Her first book in the spectacular Unwanted series – where things are not as they seem (14 books total) gained her a California Young Reader Medal award in 2014. Her newest series\, The Forgotten Five\, is about five supernatural kids raised on a deserted island who enter civilization for the first time to search for their missing criminal parents and the stash they left behind. Clarice the Brave is a remarkable adventure story about two ship mice\, separated by mutiny\, who vow to find each other again. And\, in Going Wild\, life gets strange for 12-year-old Charlie after she moves to a new town and finds a bracelet that grants her animal-based powers. \nMystery writer Matt McMann is also a professional musician. He once played on a cruise ship and at an NFL stadium. Now\, he spends his time writing spooky mystery adventure books similar to those he loved as a boy. His four Monsterious books\, while primarily fun\, spooky adventures\, are designed to help kids fall in love with reading. They are short stories and can be read in any order. The books explore themes of friendship\, courage\, loyalty\, sacrifice\, and self-acceptance. \nWhen they are not brainstorming new book ideas and writing\, they both love spending time with their grown children. Their son\, Kilian\, is a professional artist/graphic designer\, and their daughter\, Kennedy\, is an actor – she plays Nancy Drew on the CW Network TV show Nancy Drew. Lisa enjoys cooking and reading\, and Matt is very adventurous\, having hiked the Pacific Northwest\, cruised Loch Ness\, and even chased a ghost on a mountain. While he missed Bigfoot and Nessie\, he caught the ghost! They both enjoy visiting young readers – in schools\, at bookshops – and sharing their writing experiences. \nSierra Oaks is happy to offer nine of McMann’s books\, but you must pre-order and pay by Thursday\, February 29\, 2024. During Author Day\, your child will be excused from class to meet the McManns and have their book(s) personally autographed. It will be a very exciting day!
